Karl Andersen is the Founder and CEO of Lektra, a pioneering energy and cloud technology company building a new class of infrastructure known as EdgeScale data centers—distributed, locally powered micro data centers that connect energy directly to AI compute.
His work sits at the intersection of energy, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure. Karl is focused on solving one of the defining challenges of the AI era: the global shortage of power for compute. Through Lektra, he is turning distributed energy—solar, batteries, and behind-the-meter assets—into high-value cloud infrastructure, enabling homes and businesses to participate directly in the AI economy. His model returns up to 80% of compute revenue back to energy owners, fundamentally shifting value away from centralized utilities and hyperscale data centers.
Prior to founding Lektra, Karl built his career across private equity, reinsurance, and financial services, with a focus on identifying large macro shifts and translating them into scalable investment platforms. He is also the Founder and CEO of Greenlight Asset Management, where he has led investments in climate and sustainability technologies across Europe.
Karl is widely recognized for advancing the concept of “Grid 2.0”—a decentralized, resilient energy system designed to support the exponential growth of AI while reducing strain on traditional grid infrastructure. His work challenges the conventional model of centralized data centers by proposing a more distributed, locally owned alternative that improves energy resilience, economic participation, and national security.
In this episode of Arthur’s Round Table, Karl Andersen explains why the future of AI may depend less on software—and more on energy infrastructure. As hyperscale data centers strain aging electrical grids, Karl shares how dis...
